Over 25 years ago our Army Rangers and Delta Force had to fight their way out of a virtual death trap.
A couple of BlackHawk Attack Helicopters had been shot down by thugs aligned with warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid.
It was a desperate situation as each helicopter was now surrounded and taking fire…
Even worse… the Rangers and Delta were completely outnumbered and if not for superior U.S. firepower they’d be outgunned as well.
It's as if the bright dot in the reticle aimed the gun for you! But, there were three major advantages the Rangers and Delta possessed:
#1 - Exceptional bravery under fire...
#2 - The best damn training you could ever ask for…
#3 - They were early adopters of a new optic known as a “red dot sight.”In fact, this sight was so powerful during street to street fighting that it allowed our boys to systematically take out targets while conserving ammo.
The reason why is rather than relying on outdated iron sights like I had to use during Desert Storm…
Or straining their eyes on the target itself…
They could just focus on a bright red or green dot just a few inches in front of them that laid down perfectly accuracy gunfire.
Here’s how one Army Ranger put it using his Red Dot scope:
